Why the # of Instagram Followers Doesn’t Really Matter

Did you know that 60% of adults who spend time online have an Instagram account? This is a huge audience, but when it comes down to actually turning those followers into customers and earning revenue, how effective is Instagram really?

In the past decade, there has been an enormous decline in organic reach on social media platforms. Because paid ads make up a big part of these platforms’ revenues, they are prioritized while regular posts have a tough time being seen. Especially now as more people are cooped up inside and browsing social media, there is increased competition for share of voice. This gives business owners three options: you can try to master the Instagram algorithm, you can use paid ads, or you can explore other marketing channels.

On this week’s episode, I’m sharing the reasons why the number of Instagram followers your biz has really doesn’t matter - and what channels you should be focusing on instead.

There is no direct correlation between the amount of followers you have and your success in revenue, so what can you do to build this relationship with the followers you do have? Of course, it’s going to be a bit different for every business. What matters the most is knowing your ideal customer and tuning into where they are online.
